https://www.housebeautiful.com/shopping/best-stores/a64994059/michaels-acquired-joann-crafts/If you go to the Joann Fabrics website a Michaels home page pops up with "Welcome Joann Customers!" at the top. Michaels is planning to expand their sewing department - which they currently don't have one of - to meet the needs of sewists as well as the brides and flower arrangers they currently specialize in.
My real concern here at store level is Michaels stores are already packed to the gills with non-sewing supplies so...barring Michaels moving their stores into old Joann stores, or rebadging those stores as something like "Michaels Fabricraft"...where are they going to put all the new merchandise?

(45,472 posts)1. I agree, jmowreader. However, at my closed they sold Jewelry findings, and other non fabric items. I really did like the
fabrics.and laces that they sold. I don;t know how Michaels is going to fit all of that in their store.

The one in Coeur d'Alene had everything Michaels has plus all the sewing supplies.

I don't see how they can have the depth of stock that Joann's had: not just craft and novelty cottons & blends, but formalwear, cosplay, knits, upholstery & utility fabrics -- things you need to touch and check the drape of, instead of just buying online. And a full pattern section, even with just the major brands, that takes its own floorspace.
