I am being discharged tomorrow

Last edited Thu Mar 13, 2025, 10:52 AM - Edit history (1)

It seems like everything is looking stable. My X-rays have been clean with only the tiny Effusions on both sides. In honor of Siswan, I'll call them my little Merlins and hope they stay cute as a button.
Still sleeping like crap but it's the hospital. I am in much better breathing shape now than I was when I left the first time so that gives me hope.
I have been forcing myself to walk more than they recommend even though it kills my back so my lungs can get stronger through exercise as well as the breathing incentive thingy which I'm doing as well.
My doctor said 10-20% of CABG patients get this Pleural Effusion side effect and he doesn't expect I'll have to come back for that again.
Now, to get a hold of my roommate so he can get the house shipshape....prays hard....
Thank you for continuing to stay with me in spirit, I have not felt alone for a single moment even with no visitors.
DUERS are the greatest!!!

It’s not easy but keep it going. Use the spirometer as much as possible. After my two
Lung surgeries the spirometer was instrumental in my recovery.
It got to the point where my doctors couldn’t ever locate me as I was walking walking walking around the hospital counting the floor tiles etc etc.
Congrats !!!
Stay well.

I take it to suppress asthma issues, some allergists recommend it, and the research is very interesting. It seems to dry out my lungs and make breathing easier. It stops the allergic reaction of mast cells for one. There are many studies that you can look at. It has a range of systemic benefits and is cheap. I buy mine from Horbaach. Apparently you need rutin to metabolize the luteolin. You can also look into artichoke extract. It apparently has some MAOI effect as well.

It was hard the first time home because that Pleural Effusion was already starting two days after I got home. I couldn't ever get my breathing to expand.
So yes, I will be moving and using the incentive thing as I am now.

Hospitals are the hardest place to get a good night's sleep. Now you can sleep in your own bed. The real sleep will enhance the healing process. May you get stronger every day, and amaze yourself at how good you feel.

Played out about like I expected it would. The advantage of being an old nurse coupled with knowing your determination and miracle status.
I don't know if they have said anything about PT but they do need to do something about that back pain.
A walk is both physically and spiritually helpful. Amazing how many little things a body can spot while taking a walk. Even weeds growing in the cracks of sidewalks have their own inscape, and the sky is of course an endless wonder. I expect you know that .
Keep us posted!

I can't tell you how much I miss my walk to the small cemetery where I sit and pray and meditate and allow the beauty and serenity of the area to fill my spirit.
My senses are alive and in full celebration mode there and when Cuddles joins me, he turns into the most wonderful lap cat.
I've been taking walks as therapy for my back for years now but it is the new gifts that are revealed to me each day that bring such a sweet joy to my heart.
I live for that simplicity because most miracles require nothing more than an open door.
I trust your advice and medical opinions as if you were standing next to my bedside Dorothy.
I also feel like you've touched so many people's hearts and I know that those gifts of life will somehow sustain you in moments that require it.
Love, John

But I do need to get to that cemetery as it feels like a spiritual center for me.
It's about the equivalent of a 3-4 block walk and it also serves to keep Cuddles away from the busy street and to have our special time.
I bought the roller walker that has the seat so I can pace myself. When I first got home from the surgery, I made excuses not to try and did all my walking inside the trailer. I believe it was CP that reminded me that I need my bare feet to touch the earth to help my healing.
I'll be careful but I have to do.

Keep up the meditative mind healing camp meditations. They are short yet powerful; deep breathing, positive affirmations, releases of chatty minds and harmful stress, relaxation, chanting and solfeggio tone vibrational components. I keep doing them all over again, they don’t get boring because the repetition allows you to go to deeper and higher levels each time.

I hope your roommate pulls through. Housecleaning is hard work.

Be easy on yourself and don’t overdo

I wish I had my laptop here with me. I'll be making some other changes that were in the beginning stages after my last discharge.
I'm going to turn off the TV, and really stop so many of my mind numbing habits that I've acquired over the decades to avoid feeling. I realize being awake is always a choice and I'm not so afraid anymore.
The neglect of my "inner childs" mental health is no longer acceptable or even necessary except in the worst of circumstances that I can envision.
I have a lot of issues that need dealing with and escaping isn't a way to any progress.
I will reach out to you in a DUmail with some questions that I'm struggling with, seeking only your insight please.

In this world, at this stage of humanity, we all are in need of inner child work.

I have turned off the tv news, online news and radio news, even progressive. They become an addiction, an escape. I don’t spend as many hours of time daily on here anymore and mostly spend time in the spiritual forum and in the lounge. I do check the homepage and latest, but tolerate it less and less. Let me tell you that makes me a big chunk less angry and fearful constantly.

To be awake (woke lol) is to be experiencing life, not just surviving. So proud of you for accepting and embracingyour awakening!
