Sanders on Los Angeles National Guard deployment: Trump 'thinks he has a right to do anything'

(The Hill) Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Sunday went after President Trump over the deployment of 2,000 National Guard members to the Los Angeles area, saying the president “thinks he has a right to do anything.”

“He does not believe in the Constitution; he does not believe in the rule of law,” Sanders told CNN’s Dana Bash of Trump on “State of the Union.”

“My understanding is that the governor of California, the mayor of the city of Los Angeles, did not request the National Guard, but he thinks he has a right to do anything he wants,” he added.

Trump deployed 2,000 National Guard members to the Los Angeles area on Saturday amid protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said previously the action was due to “violent mobs” recently attacking “Federal Law Enforcement Agents carrying out basic deportation operations.”

Congress will not stop him.
The courts either agree with him or just give him a sternly worded letter.

The protests do not deter him, in fact give him permission to call out the US military to kill Americans in cold blood.

The MAGAS love it and cheer him on.
The Supreme Court gives him immunity.

The rest of America orders junk from Amazon, drinks a beer and pays no attention to current events.

the post you just made would be criticized by dozens of people for being doom and gloom? I was called a doom and gloomer also.

The protests are all we have left, they need to continue. Last night Rachel Maddow said that Krasnov fears the protests, he would rather we peacefully give up our democracy. The No Kings protests being held in all 50 states need to be attended by millions of people.

The DNC should hire the leaders of Indivisible.

Sometimes people are not ready to see reality.
It is too terrifying for them.

We were ahead of the curve and got blasted for it.
But now most people see what we were telling them.

Trump is a cruel, ruthless psychopath.
And is capable of doing anything to further his goals of obtaining power and wealth.

it makes him more powerful. He is speaking at Fort Bragg today and I am sure he will talk about using the military in unlawful ways.

Project 2025 is way ahead of schedule.

I think back to when I was speaking out in favor of Democrats taking a stand and not giving Krasnov his CR and was told the optics would be bad and it would hurt Democrats politically. Hurt them politically! Will there be a 2026 election? It's a long ways off.
