Fire in Thornton near I-25 and US 36 contained, evacuations and road closures lifted

Evacuations have been lifted for areas in Thornton impacted by a fire that sparked Wednesday afternoon.

The 10-acre blaze closed I-25 in the north Denver metro for about an hour and forced residents from their homes before being fully contained. Firefighters are working to put out any remaining hot spots.

After the Marshall fires, I always have a horrible fear in the pit of my stomach when fires start anywhere around Denver.

I had a bag packed and my personal computer in the trunk of my car. It has been SO dry and SO windy recently, too.
