Supreme Court Doesn't Issue Trump Tariffs Ruling Friday

The US Supreme Court didn’t rule on challenges to President Donald Trump’s tariffs Friday, leaving markets in suspense on the fate of the administration’s signature economic policy.

The court hasn’t said when it will issue its next opinion but could schedule more releases in the next two weeks. The court issued its first opinion of the term on Friday.

Tariff-exposed stocks quickly fell in the absence of a ruling on tariffs.

Arguments on Nov. 5 suggested the court was skeptical that Trump had authority to impose the tariffs under a 1977 law that gives the president special powers during emergency situations.

No paywall (gift)

I was monitoring and waiting and following SCOTUSBlog's live blogging and when the Mod announced just the one ruling (Bowe vs US) (basically "1 box" ), the blog had peaked at 10,000 watchers at that point, and there seemed to be a collective sigh (with others, including some proclaimed "media" ) a bit relieved, so that they could go do something else and get ready for the weekend). At that point, the site viewers dropped precipitously (one commenter said that it dropped to 100 ).

at a time when he's been under much pressure, or they were scared to further piss off the American people when we're already at piss-off-overload.

They're scared because they know they're fucking up.

9. I saw where they were at least 1000 lawsuits filed against 45 complaining about the tariffs

and not just from businesses but BIG groups like their vaunted "Chamber of Commerce".

I know only a tiny fraction of those suits have "made the news" and only some of that fraction have made it on DU! So there is a big pissed-off business community out there.

brought the IRS to its knees. Thousands of individual lawsuits from members challenging the IRS assertion that scientology was not a "religion." It would have cost the IRS more to prosecute than it was worth.

Hopefully that same tactic will work against the tariffs. 😁

After all, David Miscavige came up with some hokie award for Tom Cruise that "Sea" members had to attend - a real Broadway production it was - so I'm sure he could invent some new award to go with Trump's invented FIFA "peace prize". Trump looooooves those awards, even if he did absolutely nothing - and usually cheated - to "win."
His "club championship" golf awards come to mind, along with his self-made Time magazine "man of the year" award.

He certainly is a legend in his own mind.
