WASHINGTON, Oct 21 (Reuters) - A group of hundreds of former U.S. national security officials on Tuesday urged lawmakers to examine an internal government group that has been coordinating President Donald Trump's retribution drive against his perceived enemies.
The Steady State, a rule-of-law advocacy group, issued its call for congressional inquiries into the Interagency Weaponization Working Group in a letter to the top Republicans and Democrats on the Senate and House intelligence, judiciary and armed services committees.
The letter came a day after Reuters disclosed that a review of government records showed that the interagency group drew dozens of officials from the CIA, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Justice Department, the FBI and other departments.
The existence of the interagency group indicates the administrations push to deploy government power against Trumps perceived foes is broader and more systematic than previously reported.

(1,930 posts)band together to weaponize the agencies? They're actually calling themselves exactly what they are?
That is fairly un-Republican I have to say and represents a rather brazen escalation from their typical MO if accurate. Normally they'd be blowing smoke up our asses with like "The America Strong Interagency Working Group" or similar patriotic-sounding bullshit.
Or at LEAST their claim would be that their focus is "eliminating weaponization" (which would of course also be bullshit, but much more par for the GQP course). I'm actually dumbfounded that they would admit what they actually are with the name itself, so much so that I question the story's accuracy.
