North Carolina GOP advances congressional map to secure another House seat for Trump

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina’s legislature formally began redrawing the state’s congressional district map Monday, plainly stating their intent to help Republicans gain another U.S. House seat under President Donald Trump’s push to retain his party’s grip on Congress next year.

The state Senate gave initial approval along party lines to new boundaries for two eastern North Carolina districts in a move aimed at thwarting the reelection of Democratic Rep. Don Davis, one of the state’s three Black members of Congress. That followed a committee meeting in which dozens of speakers from the public sharply accused Republican lawmakers in the ninth-largest state of bowing to Trump.

The plan’s chief author was direct about the intent to help his party in the 2026 midterm elections.

“The motivation behind this redraw is simple and singular -- draw a new map that will bring an additional Republican seat to the North Carolina congressional delegation,” said GOP Sen. Ralph Hise. If Democrats otherwise take back the House, Hise added, they will “torpedo President Trump’s agenda.”

Not just "torpedo". The whole thing needs to be vaporized out of existence.

1. Populism can destroy any gerrymander for either party. If both parties do populism, the best populism will win.

2. The main problem is the propaganda that influences ignorance

mostly controlled and paid for by fascists. I see it on youtube continually - even when during off-election times. Their stupid one-liners really work on the masses that don't bother to learn the context of facts of anything. Without more of the same pushing the opposite direction, you lose.

3. Which is part of the reason a dumbed down campaign that emphasizes basic values

And reflects the basic needs we hope to obtain, is so crucial to defeating a similar campaign that prioritizes fear and rage as a means to achieve the same things.

People were very ignorant and even more miseducated in the 20s and 30s than we are now. And FDR used this strategy to win early every state.

It can be done if we put our mind and resources to it.

4. It's obvious the basic needs campaign loses over the fear and rage

only until they are hungry for a year or two might they start to notice they've been had. So you might as well create fear and rage against them until then.
