Trump Admin to Investigate 'No Kings' Protests

President Donald Trump said his administration is probing whether the billionaire philanthropist George Soros "and other radical left lunatics" helped to fund the "No Kings" protests on Saturday.
Through his foundations, Soros has heavily funded progressive causes across the world, including in the U.S., and become a bête noire of the conservative right. Trump has also recently designated the far-left Antifa movement as a terrorist organization. I guess (the protest) was paid for by Soros and other radical left lunatics, Trump told reporters on board Air Force One as he traveled back to Washington, D.C., from Florida on Sunday night. It looks like it was, we're checking it out.
Why It Matters
The No Kings protests are an illustration of how divided America is right now, with millions gathering across the United States on Saturday. Organizers said nearly 7 million people attended around 2,700 protests in every state across the U.S. on Saturday. International demonstrations were also seen in several European countries, including Germany, Portugal, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic.
Trump's claim that Soros may have funded the movement questions the legitimacy of the protests against him, implying that they may not be reflective of what people actually believe.

(9,028 posts)so him and his sycophants can invoke the Insurrection Act to remain in power and keep serving putin's interests... they don't care about peaceful protests... it's just a big show for them... their real goal is to do everything they can think of to "spark" a violent rebellion J6-style (from the other side this time).

(21,856 posts)I don't know how many of them actually believe it, but every time there's a big protest, this trope gets trotted out. They just can't believe that huge numbers of people would take time out of our lives to do this just because we actually care about what's happening to this country. Among other things, that runs counter to one of their other favorite tropes - that anyone who opposes Trump "hates America." So they claim we must be getting paid!
It's pathetically childish and incredibly tiresome, but that's MAGA and the GOP for you!

I had a conversation with a lady who had spoken with them and she told me that they insisted that we were all bused in from New York City by George Soros. There were hundreds at this protest in our small city in Northeastern New York and we're a lot closer to Canada than New York City. Plus I saw numerous people that I knew.

Trump paid millions to get those 2500 hired hands to attack the Capitol Building back in Jan 6, 2021, - And now he thinks Soros only paid $100K for a much bigger event, and got 7 million volunteer laborers for a penny a piece.
Trump is just had that Soros got a better deal.

Trump should stick to his new all-gold decorator skills
.or maybe spend some time trying to find out the names of the fishermen in those boats hes blowing up. His brain just doesnt seem to be able to handle the thought of millions of people using their own initiative to stand up and fight back.

Maybe he could have given away free cardboard and markers. So what? Trump's gang is infamous for advertising on Craigslist for people to hold signs at Trump rallies; why can't Soros do the same thing - except he doesn't have to because we're perfectly happy to do it all for free.

(6,871 posts)government, including the republicans, are backing him on those thoughts... just embedding them further into his mind. He REALLY wants to outlaw the democratic party as a terrorist organization... but someone knows if he does that, the knock on effects when the repubs lose the government again (which they will) are too terrible for them to contemplate.
This is also the main reason I won't be on Social Media. DU is as far as I'll take it.... I truly feel at home here... which is probably a shame because the easiest fruit to pick is to do a "google" on liberal forums and go through them all. Maybe serve papers... I'm probably being overly paranoid, but in trump's world is there any such thing?!

(6,062 posts)kind of at the last minute on Saturday morning. I took a quick shower, dried my hair, dressed and then ransacked my craft room looking for materials to make a sign. I had a small piece of left-over foam board, a black marker and a red Sharpie, some red, blue and white ribbons and a small American flag on a thin dowel stick that was stuck in a can with pens and pencils. I quickly penciled NO KINGS on the foam board, traced over that with my markers, stapled ribbons on two corners and duct taped the flag on another corner. Badda Boom, badda bang
..Ready to show our support for the cause.

ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS! What a day!! What a fabulous day to be an American! It helped restore our sense of pride in showing up to express our dissatisfaction with Donald J. tRump. He just needs to get over himself. We the people have spoken loud and clear. We do not like you, tRumpolini, and are even less enchanted with your policies and actions. Watch out because we are looking forward to the next election. Your days as a wannabe bee dictator are coming to an end. Your crown is looking tarnished and tattered.
