Six people dead in shootings during two separate Mississippi homecoming gatherings

Source: The Guardian

Four people have been killed and 16 others injured in a shooting in western Mississippi during a high school football homecoming celebration, according to local officials early on Saturday.

The incident took place around midnight on Friday, John Lee, the mayor of Leland, a small city in Washington county, said to the Guardian in a telephone interview on Saturday morning. At least 12 of the wounded were being treated at nearby hospitals.

Lee said that an attack happened on a main street in Leland, where crowds had gathered for the town’s high school homecoming game against Charleston high school.

Few details have been confirmed, but local media reported that state senator Derrick Simmons said the shooting occurred during a gathering after the game.

3. Sadly it seems that even folks at DU have become desensitized to these mass shooting events.....

Nothing to see here, just another day in 'murica.

But hey, on a positive note, gun industry profits won't be affected.

6. I'm not. My family suffered tragedy due to gun happy places with weak or no gun control laws.

All you need is a fine mixture of anger, alcohol and ammo (with a handgun kept for "protection of the home&quot . I had one dead niece as a result.

9. What would that look like if we weren't "desensitized"?

The never-ceasing carnage is desensitizing.

This mass shooting is undoubtedly of the young-men-with-beef variety. There is a massive surplus of firearms, they are easily and cheaply available to young men.

The GOP has effectively blocked any and all meaningful firearm regulation. There's essentially nothing that can or will be done to curb these types of incidents.

Not even sending in the Mississippi National Guard to police places where African Americans gather.

notice the blue states below the national per capita... (no per capita stats found for 2023, 24, 25)...

So what's with the blue state criminality stereotype, huh?

I guess you haven't been following the story.

I have no problem placing blame on the criminals who commit the crimes but maybe you should wait to do that until you know who to blame.
