WASHINGTON — The White House this week added a large George Washington statue to the Rose Garden at the specific request of President Donald Trump, according to a federal official and one White House official. … The bronze statue, which belongs to the National Park Service, was moved from the Washington Monument to its new location during the government shutdown.

The 1992 statue is a reproduction made from a cast of the original white marble statue that resides in the Virginia State Capitol, according to the White House official. The original marble statue was made by French artist Jean-Antoine Houdon and is believed to be the only one of Washington done from a life mask.

The bronze version had been visible to the public until recently, with about 250,000 people visiting the Washington Monument each year. It was installed during a renovation in the late 1990s. … The statue was prepped for a life outdoors and stands on the far side of the reimagined Rose Garden patio.

National Park Service conservators will monitor and treat the statue, the federal official said. Of concern, exposure can change the color, which is now a rich bronze. Oxidation can cause a change to a green patina. Experts say the Statue of Liberty was once the same color, but time and exposure produced its greenish exterior.

If we call Stephen Miller President Stephen Miller, often enough, and Trump starts seeing President Stephen Miller in writing, then pretty soon he will want to fire him. So please don’t call him President Stephen Miller.

Just read about the making of this statue last night. Martha walked in on them as the plaster was setting on Washington's face for the life mask. He said he smiled when she came in and if you looked closely, you could see the trace of a smile on it. He also said this was the best depiction of his appearance of all, including all the portraits.

What I want to say about this development is that one thing this admin does NOT want to do is wake his spirit. He's the original American deity for good reason.

Next hell probably have Lincolns head removed from the Lincoln Memorial to display over his toilet.

The move makes perfect sense when you remember Trump’s lifelong habit of treating public property like personal décor. The statue’s not in the Rose Garden, it’s in the pre-auction staging area. I’d bet good money it ends up on a yacht bound for Doha. He’s never met a piece of U.S. history he didn’t want to slap his name on or quietly auction off.

Since Washington would have not spoken kindly of that orange gibbon.

I prefer to think he would have done what he did to that fellow who was once in attendance at a White House event. He was boasting to his friends that he had a passible relationship with the President. To prove this, the fellow walked over to where Washington was standing and introduced himself and went to shake the President's hand. Washington ignored the hand, politely excused himself, and walked to the other side of the room and stood.

We all need to do this whenever a MAGAt appears. Just ignore them, act like you would be soiling yourself to even be around them, and get away.
