Biden Aide Denounces GOP Probe Into Former President's Health as Baseless and Denies Any Cover-Up

WASHINGTON (AP) — A longtime close aide to President Joe Biden on Wednesday denounced Republican investigations into the former president as “baseless” in testimony to lawmakers and defended Biden as capable of carrying out his presidential duties “at all times.”

Steve Ricchetti, a senior advisor to Biden during his presidency, wrote in his opening statement to the House Oversight Committee that he was willing to answer lawmakers' questions about Biden's mental state while in office despite Republicans' effort to “intimidate officials who served in the previous administration.” “I believe it is important to forcefully rebut this false narrative about the Biden presidency and our role in it,” Ricchetti said.

“There was no nefarious conspiracy of any kind among the president’s senior staff, and there was certainly no conspiracy to hide the president’s mental condition from the American people,” wrote Ricchetti, who has served as an aide to Biden since 2012. He said Biden was “fully capable” of carrying out his duties throughout his term.

Ricchetti’s testimony comes after weeks of appearances from former Biden aides as House Republicans seek to build their investigation, which is central to their oversight agenda as they seek to turn the spotlight back to the last administration.

...that someone else was coming up with policy and signing his name via autopen because Biden was a mindless stooge. Trump wants to reverse anything he signed because he was unaware what others were dong around him.

I'm not surprised Stephen Miller has decided to go after him like this.

EVERYTHING that they accuse others of doing is actually a description of what THEY are guilty of doing. All they need to do is find or manufacture a tiny "circumstantial" piece of evidence that relates to their CT assertions, and then they're off to the races and will run full throttle with it.

Josh Hawley is catching hell for voting with democrats to ban lawmakers from owning stock for the sake of insider trading.

Hawley made amends by excluding the president and vice president and focusing on Nancy Pelosi. Not saying it's now a law targeted at one person, but...

Preventing Elected Leaders from Owning Securities and Investments, or "PELOSI".
Trump is OK with that because he's still allowed to trade, even though he thinks it should be "prosecutable" for democrats

that might be seen as "bipartisan", the GOP will *almost always* frame it as being something that was due to malfeasance of Democrats (and they will often toss in name-calling against Democrats and other stuff, to give themselves "cover" and some kind of GOP "street cred" ).
