Dems hatch plan to immediately force Murkowski to answer for 'selling out'

Source: Raw Story

July 1, 2025 9:54PM ET

Alaska Democrats have hatched a plan to target Republicans like Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) for voting to pass President Donald Trump's budget bill on Tuesday.

The state caucus plans to hold an emergency town hall on Wednesday to hold Republicans accountable for passing the bill and "let the people of Alaska know exactly how Murkowski and [Sen. Dan] Sullivan (R-AK) sold them out," according to an advisory shared with Notus.

"Following Murkowski selling out the people of Alaska to give billionaires another tax break, Democrats are holding vulnerable House Republicans and Senate Republicans accountable for supporting the Trump/Murkowski budget proposal," the advisory reads in part.

CNN reported Tuesday that Murkowski traded her support for the budget bill to secure a number of technical provisions in the bill.

You’re not “helping” ANYBODY you “represent” by caving to trump. He’s just gonna come back for MORE concessions, with MORE THREATS and INTIMIDATION TACTICS.

I bet he that’s how he ran his real estate “empire” and how he’s always treated people who didn’t fall to their knees for him and give him anything he demanded.

Satan’s probably building an eighth level of Hell just for him. It’ll be big and full of phony “gold” paint and trappings - and he’ll be completely ALONE in there. No servants, no staff, nobody in the kitchen for him to order around. No maids or cleaning crews. AND nothing with which to clean or disinfect. ALONE. And no phones or tablets or any “public manipulation tools” to play with, to use for publicity, domination, and/or humiliation purposes, since no publicists are included either. And not a “babe” in sight. Nor animals nor birds or any other living things except bugs and packs of rats that bite. Just him (the king of ALL bugs and vermin) left ALONE. In a gawdy bug-infested, increasingly filthy palace-of-poor-taste. Forced to figure out how to cope - ALONE.

He won’t even have Satan to play with because Satan took (or took over) anything that might ever have had any kind of value, and disappeared. That’s the real “bottom line”.

After the horse is out of the barn, Alaskan Democrats are holding a town hall and putting faces on what the Big Ugly Death Bill will do to devastate its citizens.

Fucking amazing. Democrats in every state should have done town halls based on the issues with actual people on stage to tell their stories how the Big Ugly Death Bill will devastate them.

I got next to no support for this idea, and yes I know that Democrats held town halls but not the kind that I am talking about.

Pretty soon the only thing left will be GOTV.

if Murkowski fears Krasnov, she should resign, never got death threats themselves?

I spoke truth to power 50 years ago in my small town and I got death threats, it is a scary situation, I had many sleepless nights.

I did not back down though, I got the townspeople behind me, I got the newspapers to cover our cause, (some newspapers boycotted our group). I got the Fish Commission involved. My group did all this when we knew that the law for fracking and mining was on the side of the powerful people.

Do not underestimate the fact that Krasnov governs by fear and it isn't just Congressional Magats who fear him. Remember way back when Mitt Romney took on Krasnov, voted against Krasnov? He had to hire personal security to protect him.

now would be a good time to take a lesson. Alaskans feel some kinship with Hawaii and a little bit with Seattle.

A lot of Alaskans feel they don't fit it in with the Lower 48.

Moreover, Alaska's strategic location and strategic resources are not valued by most. Airline companies do.

Fill in the blank or let Lisa Murkowski do it for you.

For those of you who believe in blue wall strategy and not the 50 state strategy, you got what you paid for.

(and thankfully NOT Caribou Barbie)

But Peltola ended up dealing with tragedy (death of her husband) and then many of her positions advocating for AK natives, were considered "contrary" to typical (D) policy positions. So one cannot keep trying to force-fit certain monolithic "messages" in different regions where some of those "messages" will only land with a "thud".

one time. Since the 1964 election, Alaska has been won by the Republican Party in every presidential election. Alaskans feel a strong affinity to the GOP and the fossil fuel industry. You left out the energy industries when you said Alaskan resources are not valued by most. Oil and gas interests are a major player in the nation’s politics.

Not just vulnerable ones. A competing voice would be more impactful than you think in these ultra red counties. If some of these counties went 70-30 republican instead of 80-20, that would make a huge difference in state wide elections. So more town halls etc in red districts!
