CNN senior investigative reporter Kyung Lah was accosted by a police officer who accused her of grabbing him on Tuesday during her coverage of the ongoing Los Angeles protests. What youre seeing here are the advancing LAPD. These are officers who have been called to clear this street, reported Lah on The Lead as a barricade of officers could be seen approaching. Theres been a dispersal order issued. Theyre trying to clear the street.
Lah then added, Okay, were being asked to go behind the police, as the CNN team moved towards the officers. Press. Press. Hes press, hes with me. Hes with me. Hes with me, Lah could be heard telling the officers, while another CNN staffer said, Sir, Im with CNN. I have my verification. I have my verification right here.
An officer then declared, He doesnt come through. You do. As a group of police officers then swarmed Lah, she pushed through an opening to get out. Are you grabbing me?! the officer proceeded to shout at Lah. No! I didnt touch you! she protested, as the officer yelled, Get away from me!
Another police officer then told the CNN crew, We need you guys to go over there. Come on. See Jake, its a little chaotic, Lah told CNN host Jake Tapper, who was watching from the studio. Several journalists have been injured by police since the riots erupted last week.

(30,963 posts)I'm sure it has been communicated throughout the ranks that journalists should be targeted for pepper spray, flash bang, being shot by rubber bullets... and being falsely accused and arrested.

There was considerably less of this with the last kindly old man in the white house. Plenty of violent intimidation with the current president's 2 terms.

(87 posts)This is a police tactic, performance art for the benefit of body cams and/or whoever may be filming. The video may not show ANY touch or grab, but the audio suggests otherwise. A plausible defense, reasonable doubt. Acquitted police officer.
They know damn good and well no one has grabbed or touched them.
