General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsTrump is prepping America for a military intervention in Cuba.
UN Ambassador Mike Waltz got into a shouting match with the Cuban officials at a UN General Assembly meeting a couple of days ago. He made the usual charges against Cuba and their communist government.
The Cuban representatives, at one time, started pounding on their desks to show disapproval of Waltz' comments. They exchanged accusations.
The Cubans said there was an embargo on Cuba that was creating hardships for their people, including power failures and shortages of food. They showed photos of streets with no lights and operating rooms during surgery with flashlights. A reported ten million Cubans were without power. They said it was equivalent to an act of war.
It does seem the situation in Cuba is reaching a critical point. Does the US have plans of invading Cuba and taking out their leadership, similar to what they did in Venezuela?
Is Trump's recent rhetoric about "communism" really about domestic politics or is it about the leadership in Cuba? Is he telegraphing his intentions for that island?
There are other reports this morning that Trump is taking off for the next three days. Are the plans being finalized for some sort of military intervention, perhaps in Cuba?

(20,103 posts)Bush is Chairman of Dock Square Capital, a Miami-based bank focused on private equity and real estate investments, and a partner in the Miami-based private equity and advisory firm Britton Hill Holdings. He's been actively involved in the so-called Cuban-American "Miami Mafia" since he moved to South Florida as a young man.
Jeb and Marco are both deeply indebted to the various Miami-based, hardline, anti-all-things-Castro Cuban-American special interest groups. Bush would never have been elected governor of Florida were it not for the support of these groups, and the same could be said for Rubio's success in Florida politics.
These hardline Cuban-American anti-communist groups in Miami have been working for the violent overthrow of the Cuban government for over sixty years. They finally see an opportunity, and they're calling in all their markers.

(18,305 posts)the entire U.S. is not safe from drones from within our own country.
My point is that warmonger Trumpedo and his criminal cabal will use or fabricate any excuse to invade, attack Cuba.

(4,212 posts)They just throw stuff in front of him and he signs it. He's gone upstairs. There's been a full on coup going on for over a year. They want Cuba to turn it back into a cespool playground for the uber rich the way it used to be and him, his family and his buddies families will get all the contracts and own the resorts. These fuckers are nothing but real estate developers that move in, buy up ands destroy everything they can get for cash. I've seen it happen on at the smaller scale my whole life.

(9,000 posts)The mob thinks they are getting Cuba back?
GiqueCee
(5,239 posts)... maybe they will. But the Cuban people deserve better than that. Let us not forget that a sizable proportion of the first Cuban refugees that streamed into Florida following Fidel's victory in 1959 were Batista supporters after ol' Fulgencio beat feet. Disillusioned Castro supporters weren't far behind, though.
But what Trump is doing to Cuba right now is just pure malicious sadism; he loves to hurt people; he gets off on it.
Another possible scenario is suggested by Putin's obsession by "the way things used to be". A Cuban Missile Crisis redux might have been part of his fever dreams at one point, but he's getting his ass handed to him daily by Ukraine, the number of mutinous front line troops is growing exponentially, and the domestic economy is in унитаз (toilet. Russian does not employ articles like the), so he can't really afford to spread Russia's resources much thinner; he's already cautiously avoiding windows. Defenestration: It's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop.

(10,277 posts)surveys indicate that nearly 60% of Americans disapprove of the U.S. military strikes in Iran, so spending new tens of billions in another useless war to make his already rich gangsters richer will not please these voters.

(5,161 posts)They havent left Cuba alone from the second they won their independence. These pigs have done everything they possibly could to undermine and harm the Cuban people. Embargoes, blockades, sanctions, literally hundreds of assassination attempts, always trying to install a fifth column, starving them, preventing trade
..it goes on and on.
They do this to every country that simply wants to control their own destiny and not be plundered by imperialist slime. Its sickening.
