Stephen King for Senate

Should Platner withdraw, the novelist would be a shoo-in.

Otherwise, I’m with Platner until he quits, admits wrongdoings, or is found guilty of sexual assault or another crime.

DC Madame had a client list that disappeared upon her “suicide.”

DU from 2008:

Attorney: 'DC Madam' left instructions if 'ever found dead of apparent suicide'

If the allegations are true, why haven’t we heard about them sooner?

I question the timing of the allegations. Months before the election seems like an optimal time for a character assassination.

...no matter what the press, or anybody else, says, or wants me to say.

In 2004, John Kerry was getting smeared by an astroturf group, "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth." In commercial after commercial, paid op-ed after paid op-ed, the GOP and their lackeys made a Silver Star hero out to be a chicken shit. I don't recall too many commercials in support of Kerry, but I damn well stood up for him. He'd have made an outstanding President, IMFO.

In 2018, Al Franken was accused without evidence, that he had grabbed a sleeping woman's breast for a comic photograph. Other women suddenly came forward to accuse him of unwanted advances. The reality was that the woman in the photo had agreed to be in on the gag, done for some dumb reason during a USO comedy tour a decade or more earlier. None of that mattered, as Franken was stampeded into leaving the Senate. He'd have made an outstanding President, IMFO.

After posting on DU for more than 22 years, I am surprised at the anger -- and shame -- directed at me for noticing that with regards to Platner and Swalwell. Both of them had long records of military and public, respectively, service to the nation. I thought both would make outstanding US Senators. Perhaps I made a mistake, but until I know I did, I think I'm free to express my opinion.

If he's interested. He's already used to horror / freak shows. This could be a great chapter 3.

Then again---I just googled and he's 78.

Maybe he could serve a couple of years while someone else is groomed for the position?

…and they could consume the demonic presence that is MAGA, all at once and then for eternity in some parallel hell. Plus he can conjure up a deal on the side to stay looking young with some unknown powers as long as they’re capitalist. At the end of his term he’d still be a better human being than any GOP Senator.

Including Joe Hill and Owen King, who are also writers. They're only 54 and 49, respectively.

Dunno if they're interested in running for office, though. Or even if they're Maine residents now.

They are the same age.

He has zero public service experience.

He is all over X last night and today defending Platner and saying it's okay if it's true, because all of us are sinners.

Age wouldn't be an issue; Angus is 82-years-old, so Stephen would be Maine's junior senator, both in age and seniority. And King could write another horror novel while in the Senate, inspired by what Trump and Republicans are doing to the country.
