'Total disaster' at Trump's fair as scorching heat leaves 7 on 'advanced life support'

Heat can kill fast. trump did no planning for heat and medical emergencies

A reporter braving a blistering heat wave at President Donald Trump's Great American State Fair described chaos at the event as paramedics raced to save attendees, with seven said to be on "advanced life support" in the hospital.

Julian Andreone of Drop Site News was on the ground Friday at the fair detailing what he called a "hectic" scene.

"It really is hectic. It's chaotic. It's a total disaster," Andreone said. "They haven't planned for this at all."

As Andreone recorded the conditions, multiple people ran past carrying cold water to help their loved ones who had fainted. During one 71-second clip, Andreone recorded two people racing past him and an ambulance arriving separately with a siren blaring.

"People are profusely sweating and need water," he said.

Andreone reported in an X update that "7 people are on advanced life support in the hospital."

In another clip from the event, Andreone points to another person lying down in the back of an EMS truck making its way across the lawn. The event had already been temporarily shut down earlier in the day as the record heat gripped Washington, with organizers planning to reopen at 5 p.m.

The Smithsonian had this all under control but Trump came in and changed the name from
America 250 to Freedom 250, chased the Smithsonian away, and then stole all the money. Impeach-
ment procedures should start Monday morning along with a court filed injunction to stop Trump from
fucking up the White House more and the statues behind the Lincoln Memorial.

However the good side to these medical causalities is that they are most likely Trump supporters.

It is 9:20 PM and it is 96 F there right now.

Every wedding and reception I planned, if it was outside during July, even in f'n, Beaverton or Portland OR, we ordered misters and mister tents with chairs and tables, for our elderly attendees. And yes, I made sure there were floral arrangements for those folks too.

This is not a celebration, at Our House. trump has bastardized it into something unrecognizable.

It also leaves you more susceptible to heat injuries for the rest of your life.

One could say not having adequate preparations for people to cool off is criminal

not even on the beach, nor am I a sun worshiper. And it was February. Another time, I experienced heat exhaustion when the a/c in the mall where I worked went down. In Houston. In July.

Granted, those two incidents are a bit on the unusual side. I know I am weirdly sensitive to my environment. Therefore, I pay attention, and try not to do anything truly stupid.

of people so fucking stupid that they either did not pay any attention to the weather reports, or were too damned stupid to realize they were getting sick. If any minor children are amoung the stricken, then I say the parents, if they survive, should be charged with child abuse.

My state is on fire right now, with a drought, extreme heat, high winds. Even though we are miles from the fires, the heat wave, and the smoke from the fires, are keeping those who can, indoors. Outdoor activities, including fireworks, cancelled.

If I sound harsh tonight, it is because Ii hate the harm that stupidity causes, harm that the rest of us pay for.

and they don't allow bags due to security so it can be difficult to carry in a blanket for the grass or even water bottles.

Actual state fairs tend to have plenty of covered areas with picnic tables in the shade.

Heat stroke is a very serious and truly life-threatening condition. I didn't realize just how serious it is, until I researched it just now. I had it mixed up in my mind with heat exhaustion, which is much less severe. This graphic sums things up pretty well, for anyone else who may not be fully informed:

Even if they are all diehard MAGA cultists (and we don't know that they are), I hope these people all come through okay. Voting for an asshole for potus should not carry the death penalty.

This was totally preventable. The Smithsonian has an extended folklife festival on the Mall every year during the summer. They know how to do these things. Any decent party planner knows how to do these things. But Trump’s ‘friends’ at Freedom 250 have no clue. It was obvious at least a week ago that there needed to be special precautions taken for the extraordinary heat. It appears that the Freedom 250 planners did not take them.

There is already an air quality alert for DC. Imagine what it will be like tomorrow during Trump’s flyovers and after the massive fireworks. If I lived in DC I’d get out.

Yes, the MAGAts are stupid for showing up, but they're tourists and most tourists are pretty oblivious. I doubt Fox News alerted them to potential dangers. Even if they did, I’m sure they felt confident that Papa Trump would take care of them. They probably think that they’re being patriotic in their own inimitable way. Some people have to learn through hard experience.

I just hope that once this fiasco is over there is an investigation into this whole thing and that people are held accountable. It will be unnecessarily prolonged and painful, but it needs to be done.
