Trump is set to deliver remarks at the famed national monument at 8:30 p.m. local time, 10:30 p.m. Eastern.

Ahead of the trip, the White House suggested Trump could be an "addition" to the mountain where the faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln are etched.

"There would be no better addition to the iconic Mount Rushmore than the 45th and 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump," White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers said in a statement to ABC News.

Trump has previously mused about putting his likeness on the granite peak. He called it a "good idea" on social media in 2020. But so far in his second term, there's been no significant movement toward making that a reality.

Burgum says ‘they certainly have room for’ Trump’s face on Mount Rushmore
by Lauren Irwin - 03/30/25 4:17 PM ET

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said he “certainly” believes that there’s enough room on Mount Rushmore for President Trump’s face.

Burgum joined Trump’s daughter-in-law and new Fox News host Lara Trump for an interview that aired on her show “My View with Lara Trump” on Saturday.

His appearance came just days after President Trump signed an executive order that gave Burgum the power to determine if public monuments, memorials or statues removed during the Biden administration give a “false construction” of American history.

“The Department of Interior is in charge of the National Park Service,” Lara Trump said. “The National Park Services is in charge of Mount Rushmore. A lot of people wonder, will we ever see President Trump’s face on Mount Rushmore? What do you think?”

“Well, they certainly have room for it there,” Burgum replied.

That and he doesn't deserve the honor. Obama and JFK would be more deserving candidates.

and given his record of ruining anything he comes near, the whole top of Rushmore could tumble to the ground.

Trump really does not care about legacy or monuments after his demise. He is iotally materialistic and as long as he is stealing money and getting even with perceived enemies, he is satisfied. We are his enemies. Destroying our capital is done to make us squeal while he siphons off money from corrupt contracting. Our pain is his joy.

The nation would forever remember Trump for ruining it and no one would ever have to visit North Dakota again. Then it could dry up and blow away, or freeze up and blow away, i don't really care.

put a little platform on Mt Rushmore that he can sit on. Lower food and water by basket to him every day. He can sit there for as long as he lives; afterwards we will find out if there is anything even vultures won't eat.
