1. Over here, it's just the day after July third.

Although.....there is a bi-cultural organization set up after WWII called Amerika Haus that I support as a cultural bridge, and sometimes interesting lectures for members. One time they even had Howard Dean over to speak, and I said "hi, Howard." He turned around, and said what are YOU doing here in Düsseldorf? I said, I live here, remember? Oops. But it was the only time I ever got to have dinner with him on my turf.

Anyway, they are having a July 4th party on the banks of the Rhein tomorrow night, and an old friend of ours who was a radio news station chief in Moscow is coming, so we will run down there for a few hours. As for the real world, I still have a small conference in a town about 40 minutes away I have to be at tomorrow morning at 8:15, so there is no rest for the weary.
