I had my first seizure about maybe three weeks before I graduated college in 2014, had my second seizure within a month after my graduation. I had a grand mal seizure in May 2015, then no seizures for nine years until May 2024 and again October 2024.
Busy weekend, didnt realize I was down to my last Keppra in the bottle until Friday when I took it at my girlfriends - busy day Saturday, helping my girlfriend with her sons high school graduation party. We get back, she gets upset at him and shed rather spend the night at her house instead of by me, as I thought we would.
So, I go yesterday to do some stuff around here, get my Keppra, before I make my way back to her, figure Ill just take Keppra before bed, though not ideal to go that long.
Suddenly, after dinner - I get a funny, feeling sensation I usually get from seizures, take Keppra. I cant talk. My girlfriend asks what her name is - I try spelling it because I cant speak it, and I spell it wrong. She asks what today is, have a hard time spelling the day of the week.
We go to the ER, I start to regain some of my speaking, some of my talking and reciting days of the week and other things to get sharp. Seizure activity was discovered to happen in my brain, though I didnt pass out and collapse.
However, I forgot my girlfriends last name, I also forgot who lived in the White House - both recently, and currently. As I began to talk again, remember things, regain myself, I also remembered who lived in the White House.
Yesterday was no fun, but could I maybe go back to forgetting whos in the White House, please?

(64,599 posts)What happened to you was horrible and scary. I hope the doctors have it covered, and I hope you never have another one.
Maybe forgetting the squatter was a temporary blessing, a block of evil things to give your brain time to heal and the medicine to work.

(393 posts)that your friend knew what to do and that everything turned out well. Seizures can be frightening to watch or to have.
Sorry about the memory part; but, love your attitude about it!
