Does he become a martyr? Does he become more revered by MAGA? Or is it a Jimmy Savile situation -- the British entertainer whose sick crimes were revealed after he died, now universally despised? Will JD Vance become the new leader? Will he maintain the cult? Will he be seen as more moderate than Trump and not responsible for Trump's mess, preventing a Democratic win in November? Or will he be seen as weak and unable to lead the MAGA base? Will America recover from this nightmare?

Of course there would be a massive funeral. Republicans that gained office due to MAGA support will sign his praises. I think most Republicans would start to distance themselves from his memory. The Trump children will try to assume leadership of the cult but I think they would quickly be a minor voice and not be able to get the attention that their father did.

As for Vance. He would be taking over a very shakey presidency. He'd have an unpopular war that he doesn't believe in. How does he get out of it? His approval numbers might get a small bounce but if he would need to pivot quickly on getting rid of tarrifs and ending the war to try to drive prices down.

One of the things he could do to try to garner MAGA support would be to release all of the Epstein files. That would be interesting.
