Trump trade official: Tariffs don't hurt the poor hardest b/c most US consumption is "done by the wealthiest people"

Trade Representative Jamieson Greer on tariffs: "It's not regressive. Most consumption in America is done by the wealthiest people. So the idea it's somehow regressive is just wrong."

Even electricity! Our bill was 25% higher last month (for same usage as a year ago) and my husband reminded me that our provider buys power from Canada. Ka-ching, ka-ching. Even us po' folk like having electricity.

housing. No SNAP. No jobs. No vehicles of their own. No Anything but that little check and that little apartment. Let them try getting on Medicaid, otherwise they can rely on ERs for medical care. Make them see how the poor live, and see what the poor must spend every month just to survive.

Y'know, that's the same sort of statement an 1850's plantation owner would say after he stiffs a merchant or craftsman because his gambling debts came first...
It's also something an Oligarch would say.

He could know it's a lie and still be an idiot.
He might have believed it, but anybody who understands the economy would have explained it to him.
Stupid; corrected; lied anyway.
