24. Actually, I joined in late 2023 after being a long time lurker

I joined when I retired. I think I’ve made other original posts but could be wrong. Seems after lurking for so long I am still in that reflexive mode that I can’t post. Mostly I just hang out in the lounge and post my daily Wordle results. Thank you to all for being so welcoming and for the hearts, if you were so generous to give me one of yours.

I remember someone commented on a Ted Haggard scandal article with a mention of DU. Remember him? Disgraced high profile religious leader, maybe Focus on the Family or one of those equally toxic right wing patriarchal sexually repressive organizations. The details are sketchy now, it’s been a while. He was outed as gay, I think, and outed from his position with lightening fast speed. Anyway, that’s how I found this place.

Colorado Springs is a ground zero for the religious whackos. Home of amendment 2. fungus . .errrrrr. .focus on the family (aka focus on fascism). The Air Force Academy, ground zero for the reichwing religious overtaking of the military. The whole situation is so bad that there is actually a brand new book out about the infestation, titled "Jesus Springs" by William J Schultz, a truly depressing read about a city once nicknamed "Little London".

I am thankful that I live in a slightly bluer area, so I do not have to deal with the whack jobs very often. But they do present a great opportunity to sharpen my claws.
