In the USA of cities at least its size, I wouldn't argue, but on the planet? Nah. AZJonnie 12 hrs ago #2

There's no other big city I've been too nearly as many times (I've worked there before in fact) as SF, and I love love love it, but there's a lot of cities in Europe that are easily more beautiful overall.

SF has some really badly blighted areas though, too, some abutting directly against really nice areas so you walk a few blocks from somewhere awesome and suddenly you're a little bit scared to walk around alone.

The nice parts are freaking amazing though. My fave area is the NW corner ... China and Baker Beaches, the amazing neighborhoods off of Lake Ave, Legion of Honor area, Sutro Baths/Seal Point, and the hiking trails nearby, where you can eventually view the GGB from the West. Lot of tourists miss that whole area, but it's freaking awesome out there.
