Republicans are living in a pretend world. Many Democrats are standing beside them, hoping they can persuade them to see the cliff ahead. Unfortunately, Republicans are not presently part of the solution, they are part of the problem. A big part.
Do they not see Europe gathering forces against us? Do they not see that we are becoming a pariah nation, if we are not already there?
What excuse will they muster when Trump drops a nuclear weapon? "Well, it was a small one. We have some conventional bombs that are bigger."

(10,361 posts)Everyone one I know here in rural Central Texas really doesn't care. They are all about white supremacy, although they don't call it that. Most play like they are "big Christians" and have nothing against people of color as long as they act like they want them to. It is a totally phony representation based on the way they act, the way they vote, and the way they live. They absolutely despise Democrats or Libtards and they call us and would never ever vote for one. Their news comes 100% from Fox, OAN, Newsmax, or some preacher is a "Cowboy" church that tells them that liberals, gays, transgender, are influencing their children to be "of the devil". Austin (the closest metro) is viewed as a bunch of weirdos and they want nothing to do with anything that influences their world view. They view Trump as someone that is a fighter, gets things done, is fighting for their values, and are proud to support him.
These same people project that we should all get along, love Jesus, and unite in making America what it was before the "fruitcakes" - although they cannot tell you when that was. It is insane and depressing and the reality of my world.

(1,553 posts)I think an attack is coming. NATO Article 5 planned for external (non NATO countries) attacking the U.S., not attacks from within the NATO alliance. I'm not sure how that will pan out if one NATO country attacks another. He (T) wants to rule the world. He knows his health is way worse than people know & wants to do it soon. He wants it more than he wants to kiss Putie's ass. I think other countries have had enough (NATO & non NATO), and that leaves us vulnerable to attack.

(15,097 posts)The wealthy Tech Bros, Financial "Gurus", and Billionaire Corporate Hacks all think of themselves as creating their own reality; Mighty Wizards living in Unreality bubbles far above petty day to day living. Mindless Nativist movements are their enforcement arm, their "drones" or "clones".
The so-called Conservative Punditry or Political Class are either cynical grifters or True Believers who swarm the outskirts of those unreality bubbles looking for profitable crumbs.
As for the "real" world - we're all going to die, unless we can afford to upload ourselves into AI virtual world - and then we can live forever!
These people are selfish, fearful babies who are unable to accept they're not part of the be-all and end-all of the Universe. The universe can only exist if they're in the center of it.

(115,137 posts)..and you are right on with your descriptions.
It is no longer "live and let live".
It is "live and let die". Anyone not on their side is a sub-species.
