(22,239 posts)*And this is purely speculation as I have not compared it to any other videos*
But it seems Ms Good began moving the car and driving in response to the agent pulling his gun. Her wife was outside and did not seem at all alarmed while verbally confronting the ICE agent until he was at the front of the car. At that point, the car suddenly begins moving and her wife tells Ms Good, Drive baby drive though she is still outside the car.
I believe the sequence of events therefore is once the agent arrived at the front of the car, he pulled his gun and fearing she was about to be shot Ms Good tried to drive away. The agent then fired the fatal shots.

(3,903 posts)"Drive, baby, drive" is about the worst advice you can give a loved one when LEOs have guns drawn. Better to stop the car, lawyer up and get home alive.

(9,019 posts)There can only be 2 reasons for releasing this video. One is they think it helps prove their narrative. It does not. In fact, it does the complete opposite. It proves that everything that Noem & Trump & Vance said about the "incident" was a lie.
The second is they are pround of having committed cold blooded murder and are confident they will get away with it and thus want to rub it in that they are "above the law" and can murder anyone they want with impunity - kind of as a warning.
#1 is stupidity. #2 is pure fucking evil.

(22,239 posts)It may be there is someone at the DOJ who still believes in justice and transparency. Aware that evidence is going to be vanishing, they leaked this video so people can see what happened.
Wiz Imp
(9,019 posts)or else they are using it to show they can get away with cold blooded murder.

(30,015 posts)Whistleblower. Someone with access leaked it to ensure it would be seen by as many people as possible, instead of being told it was lost or that his body cam wasn't on.
I mean, that's usually what "leaks" are about.
Wiz Imp
(9,019 posts)And it wasn't leaked. It was shared by the White House
intheflow
(30,015 posts)Thanks for clarifying, but you can see why I thought it was bodycam footage. And also, as you say, if it's been released by the WH, it wasn't leaked as the OP's headline claimed. There's an ocean of difference in meaning between "leaked" and "released." So I was responding to you based an amazing lack of context and facts in the OP and your response.

(9,019 posts)It was first posted by Alpha News - an ultra right wing outlet based in Minnesota. The video was then almost immediately posted on the White House website and by JD Vance, among others. I saw some media outlets refer to it as being "released" by the White House while others used the word "shared". Regardless, it is clear the administration is promoting it as supporting everything they said (even though in reality it contradicts everything they said).

Absolutely nobody who hasn't already made up their mind that the Trump administration can do no wrong could watch that video "with their own eyes and ears" and think it corroborates anything DHS has stated. McLaughlin said "this individual was impeding law enforcement" The video clearly shows that to be blatantly FALSE "and weaponized her vehicle in an attempt to kill or cause bodily harm to federal law enforcement" and the video also clearly shows that to be blatantly FALSE. There is nothing in the video that supports either statement. "The officer was in fear of his own life, the lives of his fellow officers and acted in self-defense." Once again, the video shows no reason for anyone to be in fear for their lives except Renee Nicole Good.
So the question is, do they really believe it supports their statements? If they do, they are unbelievably stupid or brainwashed.

(23,488 posts)she backs up so she has enough room to cock her wheel to the right and pull away. if she wanted to run the agent over she never would have gone in reverse in the first place as he walks in front of her car for the SECOND time. the first time she doesn't move at all. the second time she's backing up as he walks in front of her. that's two opportunities that someone with murderous intent could have pretty easily run someone over, and she does not, then she starts to pull forward and the ICE thug, who is already in rage and not in control of himself, shoots her in response.
only question for me is if this is first degree (he wanted to kill her and was hanging out close to the vehicle so he could use any motion by her as an excuse to kill her), or second degree.
not that i think he'll ever see a court room.
