On topic after topic, President Trump made clear that he would be the arbiter of any limits to his authorities, not international law or treaties.
President Trump declared on Wednesday evening that his power as commander in chief is constrained only by his own morality, brushing aside international law and other checks on his ability to use military might to strike, invade or coerce nations around the world.
Asked in a wide-ranging interview with The New York Times if there were any limits on his global powers, Mr. Trump said: Yeah, there is one thing. My own morality. My own mind. Its the only thing that can stop me.
I dont need international law, he added. Im not looking to hurt people.
When pressed further about whether his administration needed to abide by international law, Mr. Trump said, I do. But he made clear he would be the arbiter when such constraints applied to the United States.
It depends what your definition of international law is, he said.
Mr. Trumps assessment of his own freedom to use any instrument of military, economic or political power to cement American supremacy was the most blunt acknowledgment yet of his worldview. At its core is the concept that national strength, rather than laws, treaties and conventions, should be the deciding factor as powers collide.

but it already feels like forever. If his mind is the only thing that can stop him, I wish it would hurry the fuck up. Methinks he is wrong, though. His swollen, decaying body and arteries full of McDonald's and aspartame might win the race first.

(54,314 posts)He controlled my family. I was the only one who resisted.
And in the end, he owned his choices. He shouldn't have been driving at age 91. Several "fender-benders" and wasn't held accountable, save for paying his damages in cash. One day, he rear-ended a van at a gas station. While the fuel pumps didn't explode, his chest hit the steering column (no airbag). He refused medical help and hid the accident -- until one week later, he suffered a heart attack from the accident and died.
Trust me, one day Trump will go too far and will shake my father's hand.

He has half a mind at best.
He doesnt need international law. Well, if you are not aware that there are other nations in the world, thats understandable.
Im not looking to hurt people. It doesnt matter if thats true or not. Many of the people who work for him are looking to hurt people, and they do it a LOT.

Republicans, are you cool with this attitude when the next Obama gets elected? The next FDR?
'My own morality' is what George thought, too.
Fuck that six ways from Sunday and throw him out on his ass.
