Will we return to "normal order"?
Will we try to put this "national nightmare" behind us and move forward?
What are your expectations?

(21,887 posts)Without court expansion to neutralize the current MAGA majority, Gridlock and politics-as-usual will continue, and the damage of the Trump era will not be repaired.
Once the filibuster dies and the court is expanded, all things are possible.

Then we do NOT help with a single thing until Americans have the SAME!
Period. End.
But it wont happen. Democrats will fail.

(42,349 posts)How do you get through life with an attitude like that? Seriously.
I never entertain the idea of failure. Ever. I usually succeed in just about everything I take on.
If you don't have belief in yourself or the organizations with which you align yourself, what are you even doing there?

(42,349 posts)which of course implies that everyone else is not a realist.
Only you, yes, only you can perceive the truth. Reality. Youre the sole courageous, brave individual who can face the dastardly truth.
Who does that sound like?
Answer: The Only I can fix it guy.
Of course, neither you or anyone else can agree on what reality is, so that defense is circling the drain.
The danger of posting this kind of hopelessness is that in plays right into Republican strategy.
Whose side are you on?

get rid of all the gold crap in the WH immediately, within 20" of the election being called. Especially his dumbass plaques about the other presidents.
get the resolute desk back.
get rid of all trump appointees, even if it calls for tracking their performance and finding ways to get them out of the job.
track and monitor all J6 rioters who were pardoned for new violations to send them back to the courts and possible prison sentences.

(4,829 posts)No one is going to be held accountable for anything, as always. There will be some bones and scraps but no one is going to propose the legislation we really need, let alone pass it. Foreign policy will continue to be imperialist garbage. Capitalists will continue to hoard wealth. Workers will continue to be exploited.
This whole system needs to go. Maybe in a hundred years, people will finally figure it out.

(65,696 posts)I would absolutely love to go on and on about how the new Dem majority will go scorched earth on the thieves, pedos, liars, cheats and chuds on the other side. But lets be real. They won't. It'll be all reflect and repair as always. Hours and hours of meaningless speeches doing nothing. Move forward to heal the nation without any sort of retribution. No fucking consequences.
And the rich assholes will walk. Punishment isn't in the party nature, unfortunately. For a number of reasons I suspect.
I'll leave it there. TOS and community standards and all.
For the record, I want so badly to be wrong. I want the entirety of DU to tell me how much of a moron I am, to have not had faith, not believed. How dare I. I want to be wrong.

(1,745 posts)I wish I wasn't so pessimistic, but the truth is, unless we have a huge majority and all the Democrats pull together (which they won't), I don't see how we'll restore anything in the country to even the rather pitiful levels we had before Trump.
And I know. Support the Democrats at all costs, but come on. You are all as aware, or more aware, of how things generally don't ever get better for the majority of us, no matter who's in charge. There's always opposition, even among the Dems, some of whom are only too willing to vote for the idiocy. As we've seen, over and over.
It's going to take a massive turn to left of center before we get things changed. We have to weed out every Project 2025 fascist, every MAGA moron, every single person who won't do what needs to be done to even hope to get America back on track.
My New Year's wish is that a miracle happens. I don't often get what I want. So bash and burn me, it doesn't matter. I'm too old and have seen things happen in this country that has broken my heart. Not sure I can take much more of this.
