Coincidence?

MTG resignation is effective Jan 5. On that date she will have been in congress exactly 5 years.

Members of Congress are eligible for a pension at the age of 62 if they have completed at least five years of service.

Coincidence?

She gonna be sucking off us until she dies?

Possibly, as has been stated in other threads, she is going to try for the senate... I relly don't think she can make it but she is definitely up to something...

I really don't see her running for the senate. Sounds like too much work.

starting the feud with mango could be her idea of making her mire attractive to them... Big controversy draw the fringe audience.

She would just love the attention and the pay would be a lot better.

Otherwise why not put her money where her mouth is and resign TODAY.

5. Even liberals would delay their retirement to achieve a pension. From what I understand, it ain't a lot.

9. They would generally just not run for re-election rather than retire midterm when they reach pension eligibility.

She is not retiring, she is resigning in protest and to make a statement. In adddition to their 'ain't alot' pension (which is above the poverty level and an ok safety net) they can continue their federal healthcare plans (if they have met that magic 5 year number) with the government paying 72% of the premiums until they are eligible for Medicare.

but she is smart (opportunistic) enough to make sure she gets her pension.
