Last week, we helped score a massive win for our democracy. Voters in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and California turned out at historic levels to reject Trump’s authoritarian regime. But, we’re not done yet. There’s still one more race to win this year -- a Tennessee election that could very well be our first (and only) red to blue flip of 2025.
Aftyn Behn, a social worker, state House Representative, and former Indivisible organizer, is running in a special election to flip Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District. Aftyn is a smart, clear-eyed, young leader and she's got an incredible grassroots campaign that's energizing disaffected voters across the district. She's running to feed kids, fix roads, and fund hospitals -- Aftyn is exactly the type of fighter TN-07 deserves and a voice we desperately need in Congress.
This won’t be an easy race to win -- Trump won the district by 22 points in 2024 -- but we’ve seen districts swing by that margin just last week and Aftyn has won challenging races before. She’s done it by building grassroots coalitions, speaking directly to people’s needs, and taking on tough fights when others refuse to. At a time when many leaders in the Democratic Party prefer mere performative resistance and too often cave under pressure (cough…shutdown…cough), she’s proven to be a real fighter for her constituents and our democracy.
If you’re ready to get the blue wave going and elect a Democratic leader we can count on to fight, not fold, here’s how you can help send Aftyn to Congress:
1. Sign up for a phonebank and help get out the vote. No matter where you live in the country, you can join a phonebank and help get voters to the polls. Phonebanks are especially important in special elections and early voting is already underway, so please sign up for a shift as soon as you can!
2. Split a donation between Aftyn and Indivisible. (Act Blue) Your donation will support Aftyn’s incredible grassroots campaign and help fund our GOTV tactics including billboards, phonebanks, peer-to-peer texting, relational organizing, and our revolutionary Neighbor2Neighbor canvassing program.
Aftyn understands the power of grassroots organizing better than most. Together we’ll harness that power to flip TN-07, shrink Mike Johnson’s majority in Congress, and continue building our momentum into 2026.
