Does anybody care anymore?

If the news breaks tomorrow that Trump has torn down the remainder of the White House, would it even matter? Are people really as apathetic as they seem?

I find myself thinking what would have happened if Nixon had raped the East Wing back in the day.

The universities would have immediately empty into the streets in loud and musical protest. There would be such fervent passion and in such numbers that none could pretend not to notice.

I cannot relate to folks anymore. I don't understand.

They made “liberal” a dirty word. Started saying “greed is good” and the “media is liberal,” media outlets bent over backwards to try to prove they weren’t biased.

at least twice a year by people who seem to think we can find the remedy for the Drumpfvirus if we just stage more protests with more people and call our representatives every day -- or simply care more.

I resent the implication that I don't care. I just don't have any answers. I don't think any of us do -- not that are legal, anyway.

And soon to be starving kids in America. So many families on food stamps say they now only have one or two meals a day - and that’s on food stamps.

When you can barely get rent together and buy food …..

If I didn’t physically build my own house with my long time boyfriend, I would be screwed.

I’m 70, and I believe that people have been apathetic for a long time but it does get worse and worse as the years go by. The biggest reaction that happened recently where we got a win was with Jimmy Kimmel. In the past, the only time I’ve seen a big reaction was when they drafted young men for the Vietnam war and when Nixon got caught with all of his corruption. That only lasted for 4 years and the Reagan came along. Bush screwed up the Republicans for a short time with the Iraq war, but that only lasted 8 years. Look at the reaction when Roe was overturned. People always said that it would “kill off” the Republican Party. Trump won (or got enough votes that he could steal the election), the Republicans took over the House from the Democrats one year later, in 2023, and the Senate in 2024. They are still in power. If they get rid of Social Security for the elderly THAT would probably do it. The Republicans and Trump have a reptilian sense of how to propagandize and control people. They use a lot of psyops and social psychology. Don’t forget that Trump correctly said “I could shoot someone in 5th Avenue and my supporters would still support me.”

Until Democrats start using social psychology and propaganda like the Republicans, we will continue to be the minority party.

Others care about "The People's House"

Betcha more do over time, as it sinks in.

That said, I care that we move the White House to The USS Potomac, FDR's "Floating White House" in Oakland California.

In DeSantis' Florida, democrats etc. get beat all the time, but we don't stop trying to turn things around. Sometimes we need a moment to process wtf is happening. We're outnumbered, but we keep being active on local and state organizations, as well as the national authoritarian takeover.

With the Rotting Orange Blob, his bootlickers and enablers have profited enough to let him get away with whatever keeps us off balance, while they hoover up billions. It's the GOP that have the power to stop him right now, not us little old DUers who are trying to save democracy and stay hopeful.
