It's good that he spoke up and hopefully will continue to do so. I had only seen Senator Murphy's speech on MSNBC and that Hakeem Jeffries was going to speak.

Leader Schumer Floor Remarks Demanding Immediate Investigation Into Federal Agents Forcefully Removing Senator Padilla From Noem’s DHS Press Conference

Washington, D.C. – Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) today spoke on the Senate floor to demand answers on the manhandling and forceful removal of Senator Padilla from DHS Secretary Kristi Noem’s press conference. Below are Senator Schumer’s remarks, which can also be viewed here:

I just saw something that sickened my stomach, the manhandling of a United States Senator. We need immediate answers to what the hell went on.

***

I mentioned a few minutes ago that I had seen a video that sickened my stomach. A U.S. Senator being manhandled we now know by federal agents and dragged out of a hearing room. Now there's a second video.

It's even worse. He's been thrown to the ground, again manhandled, brutally taken down, handcuffed. It's disgusting.

Anyone who looks at it – anyone – anyone who looks at this, it will turn your stomach.

To look at this video and see what happened reeks—reeks—of totalitarianism.

This is not what democracies do.

Senator Padilla was there legitimately in that building, to ask questions of what's going on in California, which everybody wants to know answers to. We don't get answers when we ask the administration questions in one way or another.

So Senator Padilla was exercising his duty as a senator for his constituents to try and find out what happened. And instead he gets manhandled, thrown out of the room, thrown on the ground and handcuffed.

We need a full investigation immediately as to what happened. And who did what. And what's going to be done to see that this doesn't happen again to Senator Padilla or other American citizens who are seeking their right to redress.

It's despicable. It's disgusting.

It is so un-American, so un-American, and we need answers. We need answers immediately.

it seems.

All one has to do is Google it, and it will provide the link to the CPAN-2 Senate of the Democratic Senators doing it.

Is that the kind of impact we want from a party leader? I grow weary of the “they responded on the senate/congressional floor, didn’t you see it on c-span”. I’m not bashing him by wishing he’d find a way to be more effective taking advantage of news cycles. I am happy he did speak out and know the right has a much easier time getting its messages through the media, but getting heard must be a priority for the Democratic Party. I do blame the media, but we got to figure out how to make it react to Democratic Party concerns. I still wonder if we aren’t a cult, why is it wrong to disagree with the actions or non-actions of our like minded representatives?

all gave passionate speeches, and they weren't covered either.

In fact that so-called news cycle cut most of that off, and was more interested in both sides, and the blatant lies from the republicans in Congress and DHS.

Frankly the MSM doesn't cover most of the Democratic viewpoints. They gave in to the trump's administrations whims. Why do you think terry moran was fired from ABC, because on his personal twitter account he said that Miller and trump are purveyors of hate. CBS is negotiating a settlement with trump because he didn't like their interview of VP Harris on 60 minutes.

Bezo's Washington Post and the LA Time's owners are restricting editorial comments they don't agree with.

Schumer didn't do anything wrong here,

There's no shortage of news regarding how Schumer has responded to what happened to Padilla today. Search "Chuck Schumer" and then read the Top Stories about what he has done and how he has responded.

Why do some purported Democrats, on a website that supports Democrats, constantly choose to attack our own Democratic political leaders rather than the corporate media that has had its rightwing bias fully exposed over the past year or so?

been "stepping up" in the current crisis, although such has gotten less news coverage,
and could easily have been missed. Hope you have read/viewed the links already posted on this thread....

And I'm no fan of Schumer, but of facts....
I think he has "learned" from the earlier criticism of him,
and he is now trying harder to be "the leader" of the Senate Democrats.

If he is now stepping up,it's a good start. I am just frustrated that tsf keeps getting away with more and more, and not enough has been done so far to really communicate how dire the situation is. Maybe today is the turning point.

Some of us are scared, and need reassurance that our leadership is aware of what a dire situation we as a country are in, and demonstrate that they understand the gravity of the moment, and will do everything in their power to stop the madness.

Or whatever the hell.

The attack on Democratic leadership is part of the nationalization of politics to benefit Republicans. Knowledge about local politics has disappeared with loss of local newspapers/news. Everything's blamed on those elite Democrats off in Washington. Attacks come in two different flavors, Right and Left, depending on which audience is targeted with the propaganda.
