Beware the fundraiser leaches

Suddenly I’m bombarded by fundraising appeals riding on the back of Trumps actions in LA and Newsome’s response. They look like bullshit scams to me. But who am I to judge? I’m just their target market.

]Here’s the text of one of them, (I’d post an image but why? You’ve probably gotten dozens yourself that look like this with text that’s use a variation on this theme:

Breaking:Trump called for Gavin Newsom's arrest. Stand with Newsom and LA
no-surrender.us/stand-with-newsom (I deleted this link to an Act Blue page—like all of them, bullshit or not)

Here’s another,
Will you consider making a donation to fund organizing programs we are aiming to launch up and down our state? At this moment, organizing could not be more crucial.

What we are seeing in Los Angeles is a purposeful provocation by the Trump Administration.
And the latest is to authorize the deployment of active duty marines to police California neighborhoods. This is authoritarian intimidation and is the playbook of dictators, not democratically elected leaders.

That's why Governor Gavin Newsom is fighting back - telling Donald Trump and Secretary Pete Hegseth that they will see California in court. And if they want to arrest him, Gov. Newsom says, "Come and get me, tough guy."
Now we need to stand up our organizing programs faster than we ever expected in order to meet this critical moment for our state and democracy. If able, will you make a donation of $25 or more to fund our statewide organizing blitz?

Thank you,

California Dems, huh? I’m sure. Like a California Dem sitting in his Mom’s basement spamming these around, or, more likely come Democratic campaign outfit fluffing their own bogus PAC

I hate these. And I will never donate anything through ActBlue again. It’s too risky.

don't want the inevitable torrent of requests for more by them or the mailing lists they sell my info to? Here's what I do:

I buy a money order, sign my name so that it is completely illegible, send it by snail mail and never put a return address on the envelope. Trust me, they will gladly take that money in whatever form it comes to them and I have never ended up on any lists. Been doing this for years.
