if not decades, to undo. Once something is taken away, it doesn't come back. And when we get a Democratic president (assuming we still have elections), if he or she says "This is a time for looking forward, not backward," I will blow a gasket. That is, if I'm still alive by then.

I want them to issue a string of executive orders to undo EVERYTHING that this asshole is doing via executive order today. Try to hire back the scientists and other government workers, and absolutely fire anyone hired.
In addition, it looks like we need to have serious talks with the top to bottom military to make sure they NEVER endorse, show support for, or otherwise do anything political while they are on duty, given what we witnessed today.
The governor they were boo'ing today in the stands behind the orange fucknut may well be their NEXT Commander in Chief

Trump has established a precedent of executive branch abuse of power, a template future Republican presidents can use to establish another lawless, authoritarian regime taking note of how Trump issued lawless EOs, pursued an agenda of corruption and criminality, and ignored the courts, all with absolute impunity.
