There are certain types that look to politics more for things like religion .
The ones that self congratulate themselves for voting their conscience while Republicans are destroying everything.

(10,709 posts)And do everything in my power to fight for almost ANY candidate but him.
He regularly has maga types on his podcast in which he gives them softballs and panders and called the Democratic brand "toxic" and attacked Trans women.

(619 posts)Candidate. We are here, right now, talking about a situation born directly from your inability to discern that fact. I'm guessing you likely found a reason to NOT vote for Kamala, because your Purity was offended by some piddly thing you heard from "Fair-And-Balanced News". Keep your eye on the ball and look for the best chance instead of the un-attainable Ideal. This is how we got here.
Pay attention. This man is trying to Lead. If we continue to be infatuated with the shiny shit in the gutter we'll NEVER crawl out of it.
Then again, I could be wrong. Perhaps you're the Candidate we need, and you can put yourself out there and do and say all the Perfect things we need to Save Us All.
In the meantime, it might be a good idea to find community and promote UNITY in our Party so we can prevail.
They WANT us to squabble over the shit they dribble out. Don't take the bait.
Don't take the bait.

(55,997 posts)He has only had 7 podcasts. And yes, he had Kirk and Bannon on, but he did not lob softballs, and his last 3 guests were all very anti-Trump (Tim Walz, Exra Klein, and Anthony Scaramucci).
He does not bash the Democratic Party as toxic, he simply acknowledges the reality that to many voters the brand is toxic, and we need to address that.
And he did not attack trans women. He simply agreed that trans women should not compete in sports with women who have been female since birth. He believes that if the transition happens after puberty, it does provide a testosterone fueled increase in size and muscle mass that provides an unfair athletic advantage. That acknowledges biological fact. This is a very mainstream position held by 66% of Americans, and growing. https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2025/02/26/americans-have-grown-more-supportive-of-restrictions-for-trans-people-in-recent-years/
The way California Interscholastic Federation is handling trans girls in sports seems fair, and is supported by the trans girl that was affected by it. https://www.kcra.com/article/ab-hernandez-kcra-interview-trans-athlete/64999556

(4,797 posts)Doesnt the actions that he takes as Governor a bit more important than a few guests he had on a podcast. Thats like trashing a great President because he didnt recognize a celebrity at a party.

(1,594 posts)Basically arresting anyone that looks like an undocumented Mexican and deporting them in the same day without any due process.
It's not the first time, just look up the Mexican Repatriation program of the 1930s which deported two million Mexicans, over half of them that were U.S. citizens, without due process. Trump seemingly wants to do something like this all over again!
BurnDoubt
(619 posts)Because that sounds like a solution to me. Armed and dangerous violence-prone traitors and criminals... isn't this what we're doing? Might as well get the big broom and be done with them.

...then cuts in Musk or Musk adjacent tech bros to put every undocumented in an "ankle bracelet" or smart watch or phone and takes a cut of the tens of billions to be made by creating a high tech BRACERO system. Musk has Starlink giving coast to coast internet, Thiel & Vance have PayPal to handle the disbursements & W-2's, and Larry Ellison & Oracle with biometric ID and tracking human fingerprints everywhere. Why would they kick out 30 million or more cheap laborers. Round up a few hundred thousand on up to a million or two..put them on planes and dusty transfer stations. Then all those not being deported register as a NEO BRACERO. Turn off the tracker they come to get you...work off the books and you can't legally be paid..try to remain anonymous they read your DNA. And still get you paid a reduced wage and work in a meat processing plant at 14!

I felt like he was also wanting to encourage the June 14 peaceful protests.
