the corporate media? When it comes to blame, they are number one in my book. And their dereliction of duty goes way, way back. If I had to blame one entity, it would be them. Their efforts to normalize far rightwing positions and to both sides all issues is just part of it. Without their compliance and willing participation, Bush the second would not have won a second term, and trump would have never been elected, even the first time.

(55,214 posts)Even just properly characterizing foxnews and hate radio as right-wing propaganda would have been a huge help.
Instead, the rest of the media just let them set the terms of debate.
Reprehensible.

(39,780 posts)I realize cable isn't regulated but there needs to be an exception for companies/organizations that call themselves news. If you're caught lying to your audience while reporting the "news" there should be a correction, a penalty, & eventually you lose your license.

(4,824 posts)And I've not ever been let down by that sentiment. It's a variant-estate in new media with its own ratings-only driven agenda.

H2O Man
(76,907 posts)I have very low expectations for the corporate media. And I have no idea why anyone would expect anything other than what they are serving up now. The only one I even watch, every so often, is Lawrence O'Donnell, as he is honest.

H2O Man
(76,907 posts)I understand that lots of things are frustrating these days. It would be nice if there were more good journalists. But I think they tend to be found on venues other than those corporate-ran. (Also, I suppose I don't get pissed too often. I used to, but after a serious head/brain injury in 2017, I have very rarely gotten angry. I've complained to my doctors, of course, because there are times when I kind of miss old angry H2O Man!)
senseandsensibility
(22,421 posts)but it is very, very draining emotionally. I find that the older I get the less I can handle it.

(76,907 posts)to the news and what is happening to this country is to go into a mental level that is very similar to a half-century ago, when I was in a locker room, waiting to be called to the ring. Now, that is curious for my mind, which is trapped inside this old bag of bones and lard. Thus, I do one of two things: (1) work on posters for rallies and make a mental outline in my mind for if I speak on Saturday, or (2) take a walk with the dog outside in nature, and work on that outline. In doing either, I make myself laugh as I think of things I'd like to say, but know to edit ...... for now! (grin)
