(24,171 posts)... he'd still have to house, feed, and pay those Marines. Is he putting the base pay etc into that number?
Just go have another drink, Pete.

(9,941 posts)troop salaries that would be paid anyway, etc.
Even if true cost is minimal, it's still a waste of resources and an afront to many people. Gawd only knows what else trump is planning in Washington.

(320 posts)134 million to move 700 soldiers? Someone's math isn't mathng. Even for 2700 soldiers that is still outrageous. They are already paying them.

(2,811 posts)Acting Pentagon Comptroller Bryn Woollacott MacDonnell said that estimate is largely based on costs of housing, travel and food for the troops.
McDonnell spoke at a House subcommittee hearing, where Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was testifying.

(14,275 posts)And they're far more vital to actual National Security than this BS.
Oh, and they were already budgeted last year to not provide any profit to any contractor who was expecting at least 5% when they won the bid. My programs were all cut another 10% over the past two months - there's not enough money to do the jobs, we're scraping through seat cushions just to keep the lights on, because National Security is soooo important.
And I know that's the situation across the Federal Government, in departments critical to safety, health, wellbeing, the National Economy...
...But there's enough money to hold an impromptu parade for a Senile Narcissist's Birthday.
