Don't give them the satisfaction.
June 14th. It commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the American flag by the Continental Congress in 1777.
Be proud to be an American & to show MAGAS what it means to be an American.

(2,284 posts)Flags are rags. They always have been, always will be. Theyre good for quick identification in battle, transportation, or trade, but that is all. Well before MAGAts turned the stupidest jingoism into their art form, I had distaste for flying the rag and those who insisted on habitually doing it. So nope, Im glad to leave rag-flying to the fascists, along with the car dealers and restaurants and other businesses that plaster themselves with it as sales decor. They have brought real shame to the symbol, and its only use is to mark the slime that cant be trusted. Real American patriots show their patriotism by who and what they fight for, not through performative nonsense.
Flags are a symbol, and I leave them to the symbol-minded.

(32 posts)... according to Wikipedia anyway:
As of May 2023, Executive Order 10834 issued by Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1960 is the most recent executive order to establish these [flag design] specifications. Since executive orders can be revoked or modified by any president, future presidents could change the look of the flag used by federal agencies at will.

(10,376 posts)a long time ago that I wasn't flying a flag until we closed our concentration camp in Cuba. Between that and the current situation, I never expect to fly it again.

(1,058 posts)Have helped organize a ceremony on Flag Day for several years now (sans 2020 for obvious reasons). I thought we were gonna have a good turnout this year since it was on the weekend for the first time in awhile....but now I'm not really anticipating it. C'est la vie.
