...and they will do whatever Trump might ask.
With their weaponry and their gas masks, they are cloaked in anonymity. Some will go beyond what is asked of them. Because they know they will be pardoned by their Leader.
For those that are holding on to hope that the military will confront Trump or will disobey his orders, I do not think that is in the cards.

It happens every time in every country.

(76,896 posts)At this point, they will view protesting citizens as "the enemy." You are absolutely correct.
I was talking with a Good Friend from DU today. I said that things are currently unsettling. But I think that within months, we will see protests that are in the spirit of King and Gandhi. Some will be individual, others by groups. Those are what is required to rouse the nation's conscience, to help others -- especially those not paying close attention now -- to change their minds. And that, and only that, will create a shift in the military's thinking ..... and thus, actions.

(113,948 posts)We are not accustomed to living or surviving in such a transitory world.
Most Democrats are waiting for the mid-terms to change course. But, that may be too late. We are no longer operating on that time schedule.
The dictator is on the move and we can't wait until tomorrow. It may be too late.
Just the way I see it at this moment in time.
I agree 100% about the speed.
I remember decades ago, at Onondaga, a few people talking about how fast things were moving. Much faster now, of course. And a elderly Clan Mother said that when the world moves fast, we must take time daily to go inside our selves and go slow. As that begins to happen, we will see the peaceful protests. Some will go to the ER, some to jail, and some to the cemetery. But we will win.
When enough people go inside while protesting, we will bring change.
