Biden wanted a "cancer moonshot." Therefore, Trump doesn't care about cancer research. (n/t) thesquanderer 21 hrs ago #5

You reap what you sow, and Trump's sowing the whirlwind!

I haven't checked yet to see whether there has been a response to this case, but traditionally two areas tend to draw bipartisan support: public broadcasting and medical research. Both are needed, and aside from the obvious incentive of finding cures and treatments, research centers are major employers. Canceling grants means loss of jobs.

vaccines against any cancer of a rich person, so they don't need cancer research for the masses because they don't need a public cure. If you have $15,000,000 you can take the DNA from your cancer, plug it in the mRNA machine, and presto you have a vaccine against your personal cancer in a couple of months. Could happen. Of course they wouldn't bank the vaccine for the general public because health seems to not be a goal for regular people, they'd just remake it again and again for those next $15,000,000 millionaire.

My son (16 years old) had glioblastoma. We pursued all efforts traditional medicine could offer. At great expense, we had a mRNA vaccine developed in Germany based on his brain tissue sample and traveled there where it would be administered. It was supposed to work miracles. Despite his valiant fight and incredible strength, his condition worsened suddenly while in Germany. We were lucky to get him back home in time. Whoa, sorry, that's a lot of information.

We never had a chance to give it to him. We kept it in the freezer for years afterwards. We wanted to donate it to someone in need but were told that it was personalized just for him. More likely, they didn't want their proprietary drug going to someone for free... Not sure if it was true cutting edge medical technology or another way to extract large sums of money out of desperate people. My heart says that it would have worked for him but my head feels differently. Lots of regrets but none for chasing the dream of a cure for him. Who wouldn't do that for their child if they could? Fuck it. If you know, you know. Maximum effort.

I seriously doubt that it will ever become standard treatment. One thing becomes perfectly clear when struggling with medical issues in the US, the real money is in treatments... not cures.

You are right about that as you were your valient efforts to find a cure for your son. So sad. Too bad you were not able to share your child's vaccine when they couldn't use it.

He does care. It bothers him. He wants to end it because it had something to do with Biden.

She was so happy to finally be able to retire, she wanted to write books, travel and just enjoy her life and her family. Always upbeat and laughing, never let it get her down (publicly, at least). I didn't know her well, but she was a wonderful example of taking death with grace.

All we can do is hope other countries can carry on the research and advancements in science, medicine and technology, while America returns to those great Dark Ages, where the feudal lords had it all and the serfs died in silence, if they knew what was good for them.
